About the Market
The Big Stone Gap Farmers Market : Home Grown and Homemade. Visit us for a variety of fruit/vegetables in season, handcrafted items, and baked goods. We encourage you to get to know our local farmers who grow spring, mid-season, and fall produce to sell fresh from their fields to you. This is a place where food tells a story !
Heirloom vegetables are a market specialty. Bulk produce orders for canning are available. Quilts, birdhouses, jewelry, pottery, walking sticks, hand carving, pocketbooks, soap, and aprons are some of the craft items to be found at the market, as well as honey, sorghum molasses, jam and jelly, home baked bread, rolls, candy and fried pies. Visit us and stay a while … See old friends, make new friends, visit our town merchants, and Big Stone Gap’s many historical and cultural attractions: The Trail of the Lonesome Pine opens June – August, Virginia’s longest running outdoor drama!

Second Saturdays – Taste of the Market... cooking demo and a free tasting with currently available produce
Third Saturdays – Music at the Market...local musicians performing ,bluegrass, gospel, folk, etc...
Fourth Saturdays – Stories at the Market... children's hour with a local storyteller, craft, snack, and song

From Duffield: Hwy 23 N, Take exit 1. Turn left at Business N 23. Turn right at light #3 on E. 5th St. Turn left at light #6 on Shawnee Ave.
From Wise/Norton: Hwy 23 S. Take exit 2. Turn left on Hwy 610, Powell Valley Rd. Go 2.8 miles to light #5, turn right. Turn left at light #6 on Shawnee Ave.
From Jonesville: US- ALT 58 N through Pennington Gap to Big Stone Gap coming in on Wood Ave. At light #8 turn left on W. Fourth St then right on Shawnee Ave.
From Appalachia Business 23 S to Big Stone Gap. Turn right at light #6 on Shawnee Ave.
